Quarter Midgets
Racing for Kids!
The type of racing we hope to introduce you to is one of this country’s oldest and fastest growing, Quarter Midget Racing. Started in the 1930’s in California and has grown to thousands of families with hundreds of clubs from across the United Sates, Canada and as far away as Australia.
The Cars… A Quarter Midget racecar is a real racecar that has been scaled down to 1/4 the size of an open wheel midget or sprint car. The engines are single cylinder Honda, Deco, or Briggs & Stratton and can produce as much as 14,000 RPM’s and 14+ horse-power in the modified classes. This translates to speeds in excess of 55 mph and lap times in the high 5 second range in the top classes. We race on 1/20th mile aspahalt, concrete and dirt circle tracks. They may be small, but they put on one of the most-exciting, fast-paced shows you will ever see.
The Drivers… The drivers of these full throttle racing machines are kids ages 5-16, but don’t let their ages fool you. These kids are true racers with skills that will leave you in awe. In fact, many of today’s RACING STARS got their start behind the wheel of a Quarter Midget. Jeff Gordon, Ryan Newman, Bobby Labonte and Dave Blaney all began their careers in Quarter Midgets.
Admission is always FREE... so come join in the festivities and and enjoy some good old fashioned family fun with us at the racetrack.
