SC POWER RACING

About Us

Who We Are, our Story:

My name is Tony Crandall, together my wife Colleen and I own SC Power Racing. Our oldest son Seth is the driver of our 2006 Team Magnum Chassis, SC Power quarter midget. Our youngest son Cole has just started his racing career this past October and is also racing a Team Magnum Chassis quarter midget. Coles car is a 2005 model, both of them were Christmas gifts to their original owner respectively.

We discovered Quarter Midget racing back in 2004; while exploring the area around our new home in Lithia, Florida (a Tampa suburb) we stumbled across the Tampa Bay QMRA club races. With my being a life-long race fan I had to stop and check out the action- we were hooked immediately. So 2 years later after a relocation to the Columbus, OH area we discovered the Buckeye QMRA.

We started our racing endeavor in Oct of 2006 when we purchased our first Quarter Midget. We were truly starting from the ground up with our racing program. In fact we had to buy a truck so we would be able to go pick up our race car; we bought the truck on a Wednesday then drove it to Springfield, OH on Friday evening of that week to get our race car. Our first car was a late 90's model 76" Nervo Coggins 1900.

My wife and I are both proud military veterans; I was in the Air Force for 9 years and my wife was in the Navy for just over 5 years. As a result our sons have gotten the patriotic bug. So at Seth’s request we had to go with a patriotic “American Flag Colors” paint scheme for his new paint job on his first car.

Tighten those seat belts, stick around, check out our site regularly and enjoy the ride as we journey deeper and deeper into a racing adventure for all ages....

Our Business:

The purpose of our business is to subsidise our racing endeavor. We DO NOT sell, produce or repair any products. ALL funds we take in are sponsor and donation dollars that go back into the racing program- 100%. Every dollar is put into a separate account soley for the purpose of continuing the racing career(s) of Seth and shortly Cole. We hope to create mutually beneficial Sponsorship programs with area organizations that will allow us to continue doing what has become a wonderful source for family enjoyment and personal growth for all. So check out our Sponsor page and find out how you can become a sponsor of the SC Power Racing Family or just simply come out and watch us race. Quarter Midget Racing is a spectator sport and is always FREE for all to come watch and cheer us on.

God Bless our Troops....

Our Drivers:

Seth Crandall, Age 7

Seth was born at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, VA while Colleen was on active duty as an RN and I was a member of the Virginia Air National Guard at Camp Pendleton in Virginia Beach, VA. Seth has loved racing since he was a toddler.

After starting out in his rookie car Seth got his current Team Magnum Chassis car in July 07. Seth almost immediately had success in it winning his first 2 races, then finishing 2nd in his Jr. Novice Division Feature race at the 2007 Eastern Grands at Miami Valley racetrack in Xenia, OH. From there he was off and running rattling off 4 more consecutive wins before graduating up to the Jr. Honda division in August 2007. In 2008 Seth raced Jr Honda in both the BQMRA Weekly points series finihsing a solid 2nd w/ 1 Heat win and also race Jr Honda in the Mid-Ohio Touring series and finished a strong 4th in points w/ 1 lower main Win.

Seth's favorite activity is RACING; if it is raced then he loves it: Quarter Midgets, Stockcars, Indy Cars, Motorcycles, Snowmobiles, Dirt Bikes, Monster Trucks, etc. Apparently our house is a little on the disfunctional side though as no one likes the same drivers or manufacturers. Seth likes Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon, Dad likes the Roush Gang; Seth likes Chevy, Dad likes Ford; Seth likes Grave Digger (a Chevy) and Dad likes Iron Outlaw (a Ford).

Keep your eyes peeled for Seth coming around turn 4, he doesn't let off the gas.... to be continued.

Cole Crandall, Age 5

Cole was born at the Naval Hospital in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba while Colleen was serving as an RN and I was working as a Gov't. Utilities Contractor on the island. Since Cuba is a communist country, unlike many military children born overseas Cole does NOT have dual citizenship. He is strictly American and his birth certificate is actually from the US Embassy in the Bahamas.

We purchased Cole's racecar, a 76" Team Magnum Chassis in July 07 along with Seth's car. Cole's car was the 2006 Buckeye Track Championship winning car in the Jr. Honda division.

Like Seth, Cole's favorite pastime is racing (and fighting with his brother). He likes matchbox cars, trucks and whatever else he can think of to stage a mock race. Cole too likes everything that Dad doesn't, I think he is just following big brother Seth's lead. He likes Johnson and Gordon in Nascar and Superman in the Monster Trucks.  I think they just do it to mess with me.

Cole's racing career began last summer slowly working him into the car via practice sessions at the outdoor track at Columbus Motor Speedway. He made his racing debut in October with a splash; after starting last in hios heat race he avoided an early wreck and was leading by lap 3. From there he was off to the races doing well until he met the wall slightly damaging his car. From there things got a little hairy and eventually he attempted to take down the wall coming out of turn 2- and was almost successful. Unfortunately the wall beat him that day and we had lots of broken parts. Cole is running in the Jr Rookie class currently and later this year he and Seth will both be racing in the Jr Honda division together. Boy will that likely be cause for some fights both on and off the track.

Stay tuned for plenty of "bump drafting" out of these boys....
